Review: Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara & Maybelline The Falsies Mascara

A mascara alone can enhance your eyes & make you look pretty. I've been a mascara fan forever. So I'm going to talk about two mascaras today. These are the only two am currently using. Maybelline mascaras has been a constant favorite with me right from the beginning of my makeup history. When you compare the two very important aspects together - affordability & quality, Maybelline Mascaras win hands down.

Review: Lakme Absolute Face Stylist Compact ~ Shade 06 Almond Honey

Price: Rs.1000 (I bought it for Rs.750 from Naykaa)
Quantity: 11 gm

This Lakme Absolute Face Stylist Compact is the most expensive compact or pressed powder from Lakme. To be honest, I would have never bought it without the discount, if I had to pay the full amount. Reasons for that - since Lakme has limited shades, (as I explained in my previous post here) & I never get a perfect match, I'd rather buy from some other brand which either has my shade or is more affordable. But now that I finally got it I'm happy with it. I'll never buy it again though, not for 1000 bucks...I would have if they had a perfect match for me.

Review: Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover SPF 25 shade-05

Before I start, let me mention that I haven't bought face makeup products (foundation, pressed powder, concealer) in a long time & in that time my skin tone changed too. So even if I were to go & buy these products from the makeup counter, it still would have been difficult. Especially because I'm dusky. & every dusky girl knows how limited our options are.
So Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover SPF 25 is one of the foundations I recently bought. I know a lot of reviews about this foundation is already up for months now, already mentioned are the goods & the bads of this particular foundation which also includes a detailed description of the packaging. So what am I going to add to the existing points? Well, I wanted to talk more about the shades.
I've not used this particular foundation before, so I had no idea how this foundation would suit me or which shade I should pick up. So, I went through several reviews to get an idea, which I got, but I still had no idea about the shades. Though why shade descriptions are not added is, 'cause you are not suppose to buy foundation online by guessing your shade! But that's exactly what I did! I went ahead & picked up a shade online by guessing & guess what? The shade is horribly wrong for me.

MRP : Rs.700 (I bought it for Rs.525 from Naykaa)
Quantity : 9 gm (according to Naykaa) Not mentioned on the bottle or the website.

Description: An ultra-light, water-based, oil-free foundation with vitamin B3 & SPF 25 guards the skin against harmful rays leaving it visibly fairer, polished & vibrant with 16 hours of complete skin coverage.

A Gift

This post has been due for over two months now. I should have immediately posted this, but like they say, better late than never right? So here goes:
My birthday is in March, the 23rd. I'm not really that much into celebrating my birthday but this year was particularly without much frills. I did go out with my family for dinner & it was definitely great. & That was that. Honestly wasn't even expecting that much so it was pleasant...
A week passed after that; & one fine afternoon as I was blissfully admiring the gorgeous summer afternoon, sitting by the bay window in my room, I heard the door bell ring. Now, I'm not somebody who would attend the door ever, not until I'm the only one at home...or until I'm expecting a parcel. As none of the conditions applied, I as usual ignored the bell completely. But after a few minutes I heard a mild knock on my room door. 'There is a parcel for you' ~ I was informed as I went out to find out what & I was very surprised to put it mildly.
So I was greeted by this parcel which looked nothing like the standard parcels that I'm used to receiving. Instead, it was this beautiful shimmery green art silk package; which I instantly fell in love with. One look at the neatly written address in curvy letters & I knew who it was from. 'Tan sent me a b'day present ?!' But the surprise doesn't subside even after I open it & finally take a look inside. I mean, I was expecting something very pretty but this?! This is a part of her new collection spring/summer 2014, which she is currently showcasing in all the multi-designer stores her label retails from! & damn it looks fab.

My Online Makeup Shopping June 2014

Naykaa  was offering a 25% discount on Lakme & Maybelline products! & that was from the 2nd to the 4th of June. So I bought an entire range of makeup products online & thought I should review them too.
I've been thinking of buying some face makeup, for sometimes, which I've been putting off for a while now. I needed new foundaton, pressed powder & concealer. So when I came across this offer, I didn't think twice before diving in!(though now I definitely think I should have thought twice :( ). Apparently I bought 3 foundations. & 2 concealers :/ . & I'm someone who doesn't even wear a full face makeup on a regular basis. & wait for it....all the 3 foundation & 2 concealer colors are wrong for me! But anyway I'd review each product separately.

My experience at the Beauty Counters

So...this is just a post voicing my experience at all the various beauty counters all over the city... Kolkata. To be honest, I'm afraid it's more like a rant than an article...I'll try not to whine too much though...promise.

The issues are many that I have faced through out the years & the worst ? Only that it doesn't get any better. So to start with...
The moment I get anywhere near a 2 meter radius of a beauty counter, the Sale's Assistants' start showing signs of getting into a frenzy with their "Yes ma'am?"/ "How may I help you ma'am?" (in that typical squeaky sing-song way) & it never failed to make me feel unsettled & regret the decision of checking the cosmetic counters in the first place. But anyone who buys make-up knows how unavoidable & important that totally-not looked-forward-to-trip to the cosmetic counter is. Any make-up counter & I'm strictly talking drugstore make-up counters that is. If it's one of those counters in...say a Shopper's Stop, then she would be standing right in front of my nose across the counter & demanding to know how she could help me; so I'm obliged to give an answer even though I know it would be totally not worth talking since I most of the time either know exactly what I want or just browsing to see if I chance upon something interesting. So in both cases I can help myself especially so since I'm (as I'd call) "fluent in make-up" myself. & once I spot what I want I will anyways ask the SA to provide me with the fresh product & make a bill. Simple one would think...but definitely no! No mater which ever way you tell them you do not need help, that you are well aware of the specifications of the products on display, they simply will not leave you alone!
